Making a bug hotel.

This weekend we made a bug hotel. I drew some plans. Then we searched the garden for things that bugs might like to make a home in; broken terracotta pots, logs, bamboo, straw and leaves. I built up layers of different things. Daddy cut some bamboo, and I put them in a pot.

This is my bug hotel.

I also joined the buglife, which is a conservation trust, they sent me some lovely posters.

  • Wonderful bug hotel – I am so impressed! I will attempt to make one for the garden and one for the allotment – may need to borrow your plans Isaac!

  • Isaac, we have attached two bamboo and hessian bug hotels to the allotment shed. They were made by Xavier during a visit to Animal World, last year. I am hoping that they will attract ladybirds and hoverflies to the allotment.
