Challenge #2 : “At the Seaside”

This is another ‘open’ challenge that will run all summer…

  • What we can find at the seaside ?

For inspiration this is a flickr slideshow from the British Marine Life Study Society

If you’re going to go spotting on the beach remember to be careful, follow the ‘seashore code‘, and watch out out for the tide ! You can download some rockpooling pdf’s here: bbc/breathingplaces/marineweek/

Teething troubles…{solved}!!!

Update:

The Posting Photos page has been revised again, I’ve solved the problem that was preventing images from showing up. it should be much easier for everyone now !

Thanks to all who’ve contributed so far, appologies to those who’ve tried adding photos to their comments using the original instructions I supplied- it didn’t work !!

Short story: I’ve had to add a plug-in  to make it possible for photos to be added to comments. I’ve updated the instructions on the Posting Photos page and it should work for everyone now !

Also : New instructions added for picasaweb and flickr users !

Lacock Abbey bug hunt

Today i visited Laycock Abbey, they had a bug hunting day. We fished in a pond with some little nets. In the water were some snails, tadpoles, waterboatmen and pond skaters. We had a picnic on the bench and spotted butterflies, bees and ladybirds on flowers nearby. I got a bat sticker for my wild child book. It was sunny and cloudy.

Secret World – hedgehog and tortoise weekend

At the weekend I visited Secret World for their hedgehog and tortoise weekend. The hedgehogs were all asleep but i did see; a huge tortoise, two foxes, some owls, guinea pigs, chickens, ferrets and i held a rabbit. I made a bee hotel and Jacob made a bird feeder, I got a t-shirt. They have a brilliant playground, i had a fun day.

A giant swarm of  ladybirds has descended on a farm in Coombe Saint Nicholas, as they do every year, to feed on the greenfly which are attracted to the farm’s sedum fields:

We have installled a photo gallery. If you want to add some photos of your finds, and you don’t already have a place to put your photos on-line, you can upload photos to our gallery. *Read this first*. We’ll need to set you up an account, then you can log-in, create a new album for yourself, and upload your photos.

If you can re-size your photos before uploading  [800px wide will be good] then we shouldn’t have any problems with filling up our server space!
